Traffic Safety

The goal of the Traffic Safety Unit is to use education, engineering and enforcement to increase traffic safety in San Luis Obispo. Input from the community is important to reveal problem areas.

The unit is currently staffed with one Sergeant and four officers who work from fully marked police motorcycles.

The National Click-it or Ticket Campaign mobilization period is from May 16 to 22, 2011. The overtime positions are increased during this period but will continue throughout the year.  The Office of Traffic Safety has funded overtime for officers to conduct saturation patrols each month to increase seatbelt use. Please wear your seat belt to be a good example to others and to increase safety while in transit.
