What's New in Housing

Laurel Creek

Applications are now available for the Laurel Creek project.  This is an excellent program that provides substantial down payment assistance to eligible households through the State of California's BEGIN program.  This is a unique program that was awarded to the project after a competitive process for limited available funds.  Eligible first-time homebuyers will benefit from $92-$128 thousand in down payment assistance, which is provided at 3% simple interest.  Periodic payments are not required during the term of the loan to insure an affordable monthly payment for the borrower.  These homes are available on a first-come, first-served basis so apply today!

CDBG - Community Development Block Grant 2009 Cycle

The City expects to receive approximately $600,000 in federal CDBG funds for the 2009 cycle.  CDBG activities must, by law, meet federal objectives and rules.  The Housing and Urban Development Department (HUD) has three broad national objectives:

  1. To benefit persons and households with incomes below 80 percent of area median incomes.

  2. To aid in the prevention or elimination of slums or blight; and

  3. To meet urgent community development needs that pose a serious, immediate threat to public health or welfare, such as floods, earthquakes or other disasters.

Applications and more detailed information about the program are available here.
