The
Ranger Service works to provide both educational and recreational
opportunities to the citizens of San Luis Obispo. The City's
4,000 acres of designated open space promise to have something for
everyone. Rugged hiking trails, challenging mountain biking and
leisurely scenic pathways can be found just minutes from downtown.
Open spaces in and around SLO demonstrate the beauty and diversity
that characterize California's famed central coast. Within just
5 miles of the city center, outdoor enthusiasts can find themselves
exploring marshy wetlands, traversing mature growth woodlands or
viewing hidden waterfalls.
